For a project with a beginning and an end
A clear
way in.
A clear
way out.

A separate contact route can help give a short project a clear boundary. Decide who it serves, who looks after it and what happens when the work ends.
Plan the project windowA planning companion for separate project contacts, including virtual-number routes you manage with a provider. Side Door does not issue numbers or receive verification codes.
Start with the reason
A small project.
A specific doorway.
A move, a neighbourhood gathering or a short piece of work can each have a contact route with a defined purpose. The route should not quietly become the address for every part of your life.
Give move-day questions one place.
Decide which arrangements belong on this route, who checks it and how people should follow up after the move. Keep unrelated account recovery details separate.

Think in three moments
A useful boundary
has a middle too.
Make the purpose visible.
Say what the route is for, who looks after it and where a question outside that scope should go. Confirm the service’s actual features and permitted uses before relying on it.

Give the plan three dates
Put the ending
in the calendar
at the beginning.
Choose an opening date, an earlier review point and a planned closing date. Download a short plan or three calendar events for your own calendar app.
Build a project windowA calendar file creates planning reminders when you import it. It does not change a number, notify contacts or cancel a service.
Someone holds the door
A route needs
a named owner.
“Someone will check it” is hard to act on. Agree who monitors the route, when they normally check it and what happens if they are away.

One purpose
at a time.
Use the project route for the arrangements it was set up to handle. Review a new kind of request before letting the scope grow.
Keep enduring access
on an enduring route.
Do not make a short-lived project contact your only route back into a long-lived account. Review recovery settings with the actual account provider before closing a contact.
Google’s recovery-information guidancePrepare the last message
Close with
a next step.

A closing note can say which project is ending, the planned date and the authorised route for any follow-up. Keep the next step more useful than “this number is no longer checked”.
Write a closing draftThe draft is yours to review and send. Nothing is sent automatically.

When responsibility changes
Pass the context.
Then the contact.
The next person needs the purpose, open tasks, limits and review date. Agree permission and access through the service’s proper process before changing who handles the route.
Make a handover briefReview while the project is still alive
Is this still
the right doorway?
- Are the messages still about the agreed project?
- Does the checking pattern match what people expect?
- Does someone need a clearer follow-up route?

Keep only what has a reason to remain
The project ends.
The housekeeping
still matters.
Identify any unfinished task and the records that are still needed. Decide who is responsible for them and follow the obligations that apply to the actual work.
A closing date is not a universal retention rule. Do not keep a whole conversation history merely because no one decided what to do with it.
Include unfinished work in the briefThe last action happens outside this planner
A plan is a prompt.
Closing is an action.
After contacts have the right next step, check the provider’s current process for ending or changing the service. Verify the result in that service. Side Door cannot make that change for you.

Questions at the threshold
Before you
open a route.
Does Side Door provide a virtual number?
No. It provides planning tools for a separate contact route. It does not issue numbers, deliver messages, receive verification codes or connect to a telecom provider.
Will a calendar reminder close my service?
No. The calendar file contains three all-day planning events. You choose whether to import it. Any actual service change must be made separately with the provider.
Can the same contact be used for account recovery?
Check the account provider’s requirements and keep recovery access under your control. A short-lived project route should not be your only way back into an account that will outlast the project.
Do the planning tools save what I enter?
They keep the current draft only in the open page. Reloading or leaving clears it. A file you choose to download is handled by your browser. Only the separate enquiry form sends information to this site.
What if the planned closing date changes?
Update the plan, tell the relevant people through your own authorised channels and check any reminders already imported into your calendar. Downloading a replacement file does not remove earlier calendar events.
A question for Side Door
What needs
a clearer
boundary?
Ask about a tool, a planning step or a correction. Keep the message about the question rather than sharing private project correspondence.
